President Buhari Addresses Nigerians On New Year Day
President Muhammadu Buhari will make a nationwide broadcast to Nigerians to mark the New Year on January 1, 2021 at 7 am, presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu said.
Shehu disclosed this on his twitter handle on Thursday and directed television and radio stations to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.
The president in his New Year message for the outgoing year 2020 made some promises to the nation among which was the development of the AKK gas pipeline which he said work would commence on in the first quarter of the year.
“In the first quarter of 2020, we will commence work on the AKK gas pipeline, OB3 Gas pipeline and the expansion of the Escravos – Lagos Pipeline,” the president said
President Buhari also promised to strengthen the electoral process both in Nigeria and across the region.
Part of his promises was to lay a solid foundation to take away hundred million of Nigerians out of mass poverty over the next 10 years.
While some of the promises were not met, Nigeria signed and ratified its membership of the African free-trade zone on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) which was part of the New New promises made by the Nigerian leader.
Nigerians await the President’s New Year Resolution tomorrow.
