At least eight people were killed by armed terrorists who raided villages in Batsari local government area of Katsina state.
HumAngle reports that the motorcycle-riding terror group attacked the communities of Nahuta and Kasai on Friday night around 7pm, opening fire on residents, burning and destroying shops.
Lawal, a resident of Nahuta village said, “They was heavy rainfall when they stormed our village (Nahuta), shooting sporadically which killed three persons on the spot.
“The heavy rainfall makes many people drown in the nearby stream,” Lawal said.
He added that “so far, eight dead bodies were discovered in the stream which is all women and children.”
Rabiu, a resident of Kasai village who also escaped the attack said, “the gunmen arrived while we were in the mosque observing night prayer, they killed two persons only.
“Most of the dead bodies found in the stream were drowned as a result of fear of terrorists attack, people were running helter-skelter for their dear lives.
“We recovered some dead bodies after the attack in the stream, undisclosed number of women and children sustained serious injuries and many more residents have not been accounted for.”
The attack came just two days after top security officials stormed Katsina state government house over the issue of insecurity and the protest held on Tuesday, June 16.
HumAngle recalls that deadly attacks have raged across the state where terrorists have thrived.
Farming and herding communities in the North West have long been terrorized by the terror groups who raid villages, rustle cattle, rape women and girls and frequently kidnap residents for ransom.
Meanwhile, the police spokesperson, Gambo Musa did not confirm the incidence, however,he said the police will investigate the issue.
Sources told HumAngle that the attackers left the communities after breaking into their shops and looting their goods.
