#EndSARS: Gov. Ganduje Recalls Suspended Media Aide
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has revoked the suspension of his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, who he suspended two weeks ago for criticising President Muhammadu Buhari on Twitter at the onset of the EndSARS protest.
Ganduje suspended Yakassai on October 11, 2020, for supporting the #EndSars campaign and accused Buhari of a lack of empathy.
Yakasai had tweeted: “I’ve never seen a government with zero empathy like that of President Buhari. So many times, when his people are going through a difficult time and expect some sort of tap on the shoulder to reassure them that he is in charge, but he failed to do so”.
On Thursday, the recalled adviser tweeted, thanking all citizens for supporting him.
“I wish to thank each and everyone that reached out to me, or sent messages of goodwill over my reinstatement as Special Adviser Media to H.E @GovUmarGanduje, after my 2wks suspension. I am grateful to you all for your support and prayers. Thank you so much. #ZeroTension” Tanko said.
The governor said when he suspended the aide that public office holders should be careful about their personal utterances so that they would not be interpreted as an official position.
