440 Women In Kano State Get N4.4 million From NDE to Set Up Businesses

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has disbursed N4.4 million to 440 women in Kano State under the Federal Government’s Micro Enterprises Enhancement Scheme.

The state Coordinator of NDE, Mr Iliyasu Ahmed, said at the launch of the programme in Kano on Tuesday that the initiative was meant to enable women to establish Small and Medium Scale Enterprises under and harness their full potentialities and enjoy better life.

No fewer than 44,000 people in the state will benefit from another empowerment scheme initiated by the Federal Government, Ahmed said, adding that, “About 22,000 women are expected to benefit from the programme.”

He advised women to go to their respective local government areas to enrol to benefit, saying: “The programme is expected to commence in October and all the necessary processes are in progress. I encourage you to participate.”

Ahmed called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the support to encourage the government to provide more for them.

The wife of the Governor of Kano, Hajiya Hafsat Ganduje, commended the Federal Government for the initiative.

Ganduje, represented by Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Malama Zahra’u Muhammad, said the gesture would go a long way in assisting women, especially those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

She called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the fund and engage in viable economic ventures.

One of the beneficiaries, Khadija Rabiu, commended the government for the gesture, adding that it would help improve women’s social and economic wellbeing.
