Zamfara Government Negotiates, Rescues 11 Persons from Terrorists

11 people – three females, eight males, among them, a child and a nursing mother, have been rescued from non-religious terrorists in Zamfara State.

HumAngle gathered, on Thursday, that most of the released victims had been held captive for between two weeks and three weeks.

The victims are from Sabon Birni, ‘Yar-Kirya, Dan Gulbi, Dankurmi, Kawaye, Farar Kasa villages.

They were rescued through the Governor Bello Matawalle peace initiative.

Since assumption of office in 2019, the state government has adopted negotiation as a strategy to end the activities of criminals in communities.

The criminals who steal, kill, rape women and rustle cattle, mostly in rural communities in recent times, have created serious humanitarian crises in Zamfara and the neighboring states of Katsina, Kebbi and parts of Sokoto in Northwest Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the military has intensified attacks on them in the past weeks to end their reign of terror to enable the people to live peacefully.

  1. The problem with this negotiation is the terrorists end up richer and they use the money to reinforce and buy more arms.I think the military should be supported by the state governments.
