Terrorists Abduct 48 Persons, Attack Four Communities In Katsina

At least 48 persons have been abducted from Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State following attacks on four communities by armed men.

Yasir Aminu, a resident of Garin Dodo, one of the four communities, said he trekked for hours before reaching Batsari township when the gunmen struck.

“The group invaded our village in the last two days and abducted more than 30 people,” Aminu said, adding, “most of our people have relocated to unknown places. They are attacking us every day but this particular one was very bad”.

HumAngle learnt in Batsari town that the armed groups have been attacking the villages that are outside of the main town every day for the past three months.

In the last 48 hours, the group abducted 30 persons including men and women in Garin Dodo in Kasai area while 10 women were abducted in Biya-Ka-Kwana village, local sources said.

“In Tudun Modi village, three persons were abducted while five persons were also abducted at Watangadiya village,” said a villager who did not want his name mentioned.

“Bandits are running riot in the area because the people in the area are left at the mercy of criminal elements.”

Meanwhile, a newly wedded couple has been abducted in Bakon Zabo, a three kilometers away village from Batsari township.

“ The group kidnapped the newly married couples 24 hours after their wedding Fatiha,” said Hassan Fari, an eyewitness.

He said the group has not made any contact with regard to demanding ransom, adding that no effort has been made by security agencies to rescue the victims.

Batsari Local Government in Katsina State is one of the hot spots where frequent terror attacks are taking place.
