In an unusual audio message from Abubakar Shekau, a factional leader of Boko Haram, fighters in his fold are being rallied to face the rampant Chadian forces and fight on and never to flee. HumAngle listened to Shekau’s audio recording made public this morning, a tacit confirmation of our report Tuesday, March, 31, that the insurgent groups were beating a retreat from their positions in the Lake Chad communities.
Shekau has never been reported warning his troops against fleeing any previous battle, an indication that the Chadian forces may have put the insurgents under immense pressure. The Chadian authorities on Sunday, March 29, 2020, initiated a solo offensive against the insurgents involving large scale deployment of troops, gunships, gun trucks, and armoured vehicles.
Shekau, in a five minutes audio message directly addressed President Idris Derby, the Chadian leader thus: “Do not think because you have fought several secular wars in several fronts, you can fight those of us that chose to fight for the sake of religion,” he said.
