The combined troops of Operation Thunder Strike (OTS) and 1 Division Nigerian Army have destroyed terrorists’ camps and killed two terrorists in Buruku of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria, the state government said.
According to a security update by Samuel Aruwan, the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the terrorists engaged the military in a firefight but were overpowered.
Aruwan said several terrorists escaped with life-threatening injuries during the ongoing operations against the terrorists covering five local government areas of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
“According to the report, the troops conducted search-and-rescue operations around the Buruku forest, precisely in Rima village, Chikun Local Government Area,” he said.
“Contact with bandits was made around Buruku village. A firefight ensued, during which two bandits were neutralised.”
“Several bandit camps were also cleared and destroyed during the operation,” he said.
The commissioner said Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna thanked the troops for their consistency and commended them for the successful exercise.
“Further operations will take place in the general area,” he added.
