Newly Inducted APCs Bear Scars Of Battle With ISWAP
At least three of the newly inducted ISOTREX Phantom 2 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) have either been destroyed or captured in fierce battles between Nigerian troops and insurgents, HumAngle can report.
Nigerian troops conducting a new operation against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Alargano -Timbukwu triangle are battling stiff resistance from the group that deploys bomb-laden vehicles, buried improvised explosive devices and gun trucks in an attempt to counter the offensive.Ā
On Jan. 10 one Phantom APC was destroyed during an encounter with troops at Kafa village in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Two more Phantom APC’s have appeared in a propaganda video released by the ISWAP on battles in Kafa and Gorgi in Alagarno axis. One of the APCs likely got stuck while the other was partially destroyed.Ā
The Phantom APC first appeared in a new year celebration video and subsequently on Jan. 3 during the launch of Operations Tura Takai Bango.
According to armoured motors.com, The UAE-built ISOTREX`s Phantom 2 is a new version of the 4×4 B6 Armoured Personnel Carriers featuring a 5 door configuration, with 360Ā° gun turret and with two or three escape hatches.
The APC bears a scar of fierce and intense clashes between troops and insurgents, as the military advances into the dreaded Alagarno.
