The Defence Headquarters says the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole has destroyed Boko Haram terrorists’ hideouts in two locations of Borno State, northeast Nigeria.
According to John Enenche, a Major General and the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, the airstrikes conducted on Saturday also killed scores of terrorists at Kote Kura and Bulama Isamari communities of the state.
Enenche, in a statement, said the Air Task Force employed appropriate force packages of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships after credible intelligence revealed that Boko Haram terrorists took camps in the two settlements.
He added that the terrorists stored their logistics, planned and launched terror attacks from the locations.
According to him, overhead Kote Kura, a settlement in Bama area, the NAF attack aircraft engaged scores of terrorists observed in the target area.
“The attack led to the neutralisation of several of them as well as the destruction of structures and logistics stores, some of which were seen engulfed in flames,” Enenche said.
“In the same vein, at Bulama Isamari, within the Timbuktu Triangle, the NAF aircraft took turns in engaging the target, scoring accurate hits which equally resulted in the neutralisation of several terrorists.”
