#COVID19: China To Give Gabon 100,000 Vaccine Doses
Gabon is getting ready to take delivery of COVID-19 vaccines from China.
The Chinese government is to give Gabon 100,000 doses of its COVID-19 vaccine.
A meeting to discuss the procedure and subsequent arrival of the vaccines was held between Guy Patrick Obiang Ndong, the Gabonese Minister of Health and Hu Chang Chun, the Chinese Ambassador to Gabon, Monday.
“The aim of the meeting was for the two parties to agree on the technical, administrative and transport formalities leading to the arrival of the 100,000 doses of the Chinese Covid-19 vaccines being donated to Gabon,” a senior official in the Ministry of Health who opted for anonymity because she is not the official spokesperson of the ministry told HumAngle in Libreville Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Gabonese Minister of Health called on the Chinese partners and Gabonese technicians for more swiftness in the necessary procedure towards the donation’s execution.
He reminded the Chinese partners of the necessity to reinforce the personnel’s capacities on the utilisation, storage and dosage of the vaccine.
Right now, Gabon is battling with the second wave of the coronavirus as eight of its nine provinces have been hit by this new wave of the pandemic.
The latest pandemic figures on Monday indicate that there are currently 1,247 active COVID-19 cases in the country, including 77 hospitalisations with 15 patients on reanimation and 76 deaths so far.
