Authorities in Chad are currently reviewing the country’s strategies to fight the COVID-19 pandemic after recording 12 new cases out of 427 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The number of cases confirmed in the country since March this year now stand at1,529 spread through 17 provinces of the country with 1,354 infected persons successfully treated and discharged from hospitals. Ninety-nine deaths have so far been recorded.
Five of the 12 new cases of the COVID-19 were in the Middle Chari region, two in Western Logone and three in the national capital N’Djamena.
Dr. Djiddi Ali Sougoudi, the Chadian Secretary of State for Public Health and National Solidarity, on Friday, November 6, held a virtual coordination meeting with the country’s technical and financial partners in the health sector.
The situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country was at the centre of the discussions.
According to Professor Choua Ouchemi, the National Coordinator of the Fight Against the COVID-19,, the main epidemiological focus centres now are Middle Chari, Mandoul, Eastern Mayo Kebbi and N’Djamena.
Ouchemi revealed during the virtual meeting that he was daily following the provincial activities of the fight against the pandemic.
He said teams have been dispatched from the central administration to reinforce the provincial teams in the fight, noting that the respect of the barrier measures put in place and their respect by the national population remain a major challenge in the fight against the virus.
Within the context of sensitisation, Dr. Djiddi Ali Sougoudi, the Secretary of State for Health and National Solidarity, saluted the participation of all the associations daily working to explain to the population, the necessity for the respect of the barrier measures put in place which constitute the unique arm against the coronavirus in the absence of a vaccine.
