A group of armed persons in Kwara State have abducted a man after killing his pregnant wife.

An armed gang on Saturday, June 26, 2021 abducted a man after shooting his pregnant wife in Kwara State,  North-central Nigeria, police said on Sunday.

In a telephone conversation with HumAngle, Okasanmi Ajayi, Police spokesperson in Kwara State, said the incident  took place around 7 p.m. WAT in Offa Local Government Area of the state.

The abducted victim, a phone accessories dealer, was driving his wife, father-in-law, and child home after a medical checkup, when he was intercepted by the armed gang.

A family member of the deceased told journalists that the abduction site was only a two-minute drive to a Divisional Police Headquarters along Ojoku road, where the abductors numbering about seven attacked the victims and shot the wife before whisking the husband away.

The deceased identified as Hawa has since been buried, and her husband, still missing.

When asked about the efforts of the police in unmasking the perpetrators, the police spokesperson told HumAngle that investigation was underway.

“We are on it seriously,” Ajayi said. “The command is doing everything within its power to ensure that the culprits are apprehended and the kidnapped victim, rescued and unharmed.”

Crimes by unidentified armed persons in Kwara have been on the rise recently.

Just a few weeks ago, some criminals killed a Fulani leader and burgled several shops in the Asa Local Government Area of the state.
