Another Attack On Police Formation Leaves 2 Officers Dead In Southeast Nigeria
Attacks on police formations have become rife in Nigeria's Southeast with the latest resulting in the death of two officers in Enugu State.
Armed groups attacking police formations in Southeast Nigeria on Wednesday, April 21, attacked the Divisional Police Headquarters, Adani in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
HumAngle understands that the assailants attacked the divisional police headquarters in the early hours of Wednesday, killing two police officers in the process. The police station was also set ablaze.
They reportedly started the attack around 2:30 a.m. and operated for about an hour. Daniel Ndukwe Ekea, spokesperson for the Enugu State Police, confirmed the attack to HumAngle. Ekea said he was expecting details of the attack.
The attack on the Divisional Police Headquarters in Enugu State is the latest in a spate of attacks targeting the police force in the Southeast region of Nigeria.
The governors of the region had last week set up a security outfit named Ebubeagu, with the intention of using the outfit to tackle the growing insecurity in the region.
Two police stations have been attacked since then, with the current attack on the Enugu Divisional headquarters, making it the third.
