Terrorists Trap Residents For Six Hours In Northwest Nigeria
Residents told HumAngle that the terrorists were on about 50 motorcycles, each in twos, carrying their guns and dressed in black attire with their faces and heads covered with black face masks.
Residents of some villages in Zamfara state, Northwest Nigeria, were trapped for about six hours, from 6 p.m. WAT on Sunday, Feb. 27 to 12 a.m. WAT on Monday, Feb. 28.
Residents told HumAngle that the terrorists were on about 50 motorcycles, each in twos, carrying their guns and dressed in black attire with their faces and heads covered with black face masks.
The villages invaded are Mallamawa, Bukuyum junction, Tashar-Taya, Yargalma, Runbuki, Gadar Zaima, Danzamau, and Dargaje villages of Bukuyum Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
During the terrorist’s invasion, the residents said they “were led under siege trapped for hours without anyone having a chance to run away for his or her life at the time of the attack,” according to Shehu Ummaru, a resident of Mallamawa.
Bilyaminu, a resident of Bukuyum town told HumAngle that, “the terrorists did not kill or kidnap any of us in all the communities invaded. But they carted away our remaining animals including sheep, goats and the very few cows we have. Their stay in our villages took them almost six hours without any security personnel in sight.”
Another victim, Bawa, who is a resident of Tashar-Taya added that “the terrorists finally left the villages around 12 a.m. following through the Federal highway that links Bukuyum junction to DakiTakwas of Gummi LGA, heading to Gadar-Zaima village.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian Military operating in Gwashi town on Feb. 26, engaged a terrorist group in a gun duel while they were moving herds of rustled sheeps and goats from Zamfara State.
The incident happened in the early hours of 6:25 a.m. WAT, along Gurusu-Gwashi road for several hours between the Nigerian Soldiers and the terrorists.
The terror group rustled herds of sheep and goat during their attack launched on Tungar Na Matsafa residents in Bukuyum LGA of Zamfara.
Yahaya Sulaiman, a resident of Gwashi, who is also an eyewitness to the event said, “we have seen how these military personnel here in Gwashi Military base have been counteracting and counterattacking these terrorists almost in every instance of time they received report of impending attacks.”
Salisu Gado, aged 31, a resident of Tungar-Namatsafa, told HumAngle that, “the terrorist group invaded our village around 4 a.m. ransacking nearly all the houses in the village desperately looking for our sheep and goats.”
Gado explained that “the Group terrorized with noisy sounds of guns and rustled our animals. They dried us of our cows in their several attacks. In fact, this is the 13th attack on our village in sprinkles of time.”
“The attackers were in two batches when they dropped on us. The first batch was on motorcycles carrying guns and rounds of ammunition while shooting in the air. The second batch was barefooted, almost 30 of them who escorted the rustled animals”, Gado added.
Bako Garba, another victim of the attack, said “there was neither loss of life or injury but only the animals were rustled.”
Presently, the rustled herds of sheep and goats are gathered at Military base in Gwashi.
