Shekau Releases New Audio, Threatens Bukarti Again, Says Media Undermine Him
The leader of Jama’atu Ahlussunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad otherwise known as Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, has released a new audio in which he threatened UK based Nigerian researcher and lawyer, Bulama Bukarti, for the third time.
In the 16 minutes and 35 seconds audio, Shekau called out and issued another threat to journalists and media houses, specifically mentioning HumAngle for the second time in two months.
“They want to extinguish the light of Allah that’s Islam. They want to bury it so that nobody can see the light of Islam. They do that with their mouths; radio broadcasts, newspapers, Bulama Bukarti or (Hum)Angle,” Shekau said.
“But Bukarti (laughs) thsee (your) rhetorics and eloquence, even the eloquence was created by God. You should be careful. We don’t even have to take action on you. You are fighting with God.
“You, Bukarti, should be very careful. Wallahi, there is something waiting for you. You shall see it in your life. Unless you repent, you are in trouble. You are in trouble. You are in big trouble!
“We pity you and want you to repent but you don’t want us to practise Islam. Look at you! That’s the end of it. You are like the ancient unbelievers.
“You live with Jews and westerners known worldwide for promiscuity and promotion of immorality, and you think you are helping Prophet Muhammad? God is watching over you!
Shekau also spoke on the recent report published by HumAngle which detailed how the terrorist group is deploying new strategies to connect Northwest, Northeast and North-Central regions of Nigeria in effort to expand the territories of Boko Haram insurgents.
“You better keep silent. You say we are getting stronger. You say we are getting more members. You say this and that,” he said.
HumAngle reported recently that Shekau is establishing himself as new “African Jihadi Caliph” by welcoming new combatants, reconciling with factional fighters, admitting ideological shifts and establishing presence in the Northwest hitherto under the control of different armed groups.
So far the government treats the bands in the Northwest as criminals carrying out acts of banditry, including robbery, cattle rustling, kidnapping and killing.
However, the Nigerian Air Force recently confirmed the involvement of members of Islamic State West West Africa Province in the Northwest.
