Police Rescue 55-Year-Old Woman From Kidnappers In Katsina

Katsina State Police Command says it has rescued a 55-year-old woman from kidnappers in Gammo Village of Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria.

Gambo Isah, Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer in a statement said the woman, Hafsat Idris, was rescued after a gun battle by the police with the terrorists, adding that some of the kidnappers flee with gunshots.

He added that the rescue followed an intelligence report by the Area Commander of Dutsinma, in an operation Puff Adder to Haul Mountain at Rugu forest.

Isah disclosed that an undercover attack was launched on the bandits blocking their escape points which led to an exchange of fire which also aided in rescuing the kidnapped victims and also recovering looted vehicles.

“However we are searching all over the forest to arrest injured bandits or recover their dead bodies,” he said.

Similarly, two interstate suspected criminals from Niger State, terrorising Katsina and Kano states were also arrested.

The criminals were found with a bunch of master key, suggesting that they specialise in burglary.

They were caught at Shagari Low-cost Housing Estate in the Katsina State metropolis after breaching a house and stole N487,000.

Also according to Isa, the two interstate suspected criminals were accosted when they broke into three dwelling houses at Kwado Quarters Katsina and stole household items.
