Nigerian Troops Confiscate Boko Haram Harvest
Nigerian troops stormed and overran a farm allegedly belonging to members of Boko Haram in Sambisa forest, Northeast Nigeria. Eyewitnesses said many of the farmlands in the area are often cultivated by captives turned into slaves by Boko Haram.
A video obtained by PR Nigeria showed soldiers celebrating the victory on the farm’s occupation while some locals were seen collecting the farm produce before the military would destroy the farm.
Nigerian soldiers could be heard mocking Shekau in the video and asking him to come out from his hiding if he can.
Nigerian troops have of recent, recorded successes in the war against insurgency in the Northeast as they push harder into the terrorists’ stronghold.
However, the Nigerian Army has lamented the unpatriotic activities of some informants sabotaging its efforts by letting the terrorists know the locations of its soldiers.
According to an intelligence source, soldiers were attacked at their unit on the northern axis of Dikwa by several light trucks mounted with Heavy Machine Guns (HMGs).
“The terrorists suspected to be aided by informants approached the base from two axis,” the source told PR Nigeria.
“One of the groups attacked from the northern axis towards Marte road, while the other group approached the base from the northeastern axis towards Gajibo road.”
“The troops on the ground had got a signal of the attempted invasion and retreated to Ajiri Community in the Southern axis, where they relaunched counter-attacks with troops from Gulumba” the source said.
“A Ground Force Close Air Support (CAS) component deployed also attacked the terrorists from the air destroying their guns trucks and makeshift camps.”
