Hoodlums Attack Police Station In Southeast Nigeria, Injure Policewoman

Imo State has been hit by a group of hoodlums in a series of Police station attacks currently going on in the Southeast region.

An armed group on Thursday evening attacked and set ablaze a police station in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria, injuring a policewoman, the police have confirmed.

Ikeokwu Orlando, Imo State police spokesperson confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the attackers drove in four cars, shooting sporadically into the air as they arrived at Aboh Mbaise Divisional Police Station.

”The officers on duty engaged them in a gun duel, at the end of the melee, one policewoman sustained gunshot injury and has been taken to the hospital for treatment,” Orlando, a Superintendent of Police said.

“Regrettably, the station that was just renovated after being razed down by hoodlums during the EndSars saga, was again set ablaze.”

Gunmen have continued to attack police facilities in recent times across the Southeastern part of Nigeria.

HumAngle reports that at least four policemen were killed in Anambra State Wednesday morning.

The shootings came just a day after Monday Bala Kuryas, the state’s Police Commissioner, warned criminal elements to repent or relocate from the state.

Earlier on Tuesday, a police station was attacked in Abia State by unknown gunmen who carted away arms and set buildings and cars ablaze.

Meanwhile, Nasiru Mohammed, the Police Commissioner in Imo State has activated all tactical teams to fish out and arrest the fleeing hoodlums.
