Gunmen Abduct Lawmaker In Taraba State

Gunmen on Wednesday abducted the member representing Nguroje Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Bashir Mohammed, a report said.

A source told Channels Television that the lawmaker was abducted from his residence in Jalingo, the capital of the state, at about 1:45 am.

According to the source, the operation lasted several hours without intervention from the security agencies.

The abduction of the lawmaker came two days after the state governor, Darius Ishaku,  assured the people that he was working hard to tackle insecurity in the state.

The governor gave the assurance when some high-level delegation from Gassol Local Government Area paid him a courtesy visit in Jalingo on Monday.
