Federal University, Dutse Employee Abducted In Kano

Shehu Abdulhamid, a member of staff of Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, has been abducted in Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State, along the Kano-Maiduguri highway. The spokesperson for the university, Abdullahi Bello, said Abdulhamid, a clinical officer, was kidnapped late on Friday on his way to Jigawa from Kano.

Bello said, “Shehu Abdulhamid who was kidnapped by the unknown men asked his friends to drive the vehicle and took him alone to the bush.”

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N20 million and on Saturday negotiated it down to N1.5 million, the university spokesman said.

When contacted, Audi Jinjiri, the Spokesperson for the Police in Jigawa State, said, ” The incident is not in Jigawa.”

However, Kano State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the incident would soon be addressed.
