Peter Eromosele, #ENDSARS campaigner arrested and detained by the police for his involvement in the protests demanding an end to police brutality has been granted bail after spending 11 days in police custody without a charge.
Eromosele who was picked up at his Ikeja home, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria on November 7, was granted bail by a Yaba Magistrate Court at the sum of 1 million with two sureties, one of which must own a property and both must be taxpayers.
On Monday when he was arraigned at the Magistrate Court following his transfer from Abuja, Nigeria’s capital where he was detained since his arrest, the police asked for an order for him to be remanded for 30 more days pending their investigation.
After his arrest on Saturday, November 7, Eromosele was reportedly transported to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, November 9.
Onome Adene, his sister had narrated how police operatives in Lagos disguised themselves as businessmen to arrest her brother for his involvement in the protest that demanded for police reforms in the country.
Speaking on a Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, November 10, Onome said she received a call from someone who claimed to be a former member of the church they attend.
She said Peter was told at the Police Station that he was arrested because of his involvement in the #ENDSARS protest.
