Elite Military Forces Kill 29 Terrorists Sighted in Burkina Faso Forest

They also recovered 16 motorcycles, a tricycle, 19 mobile phones, and 80 improvised explosive device detonators during the offensive.

Burkina Faso’s elite military forces killed 29 terrorists on Jan. 1 during a raid on their enclaves in the Solenzo area of the country.

After launching Operation Zero Terrorists, a military-grade operation to flush out terrorists in the Solenzo forests, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) collaborated with the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland to take the fight to the terror camps.

The forces killed the terrorists in the Montionkui village after combing the forests for hours. They also recovered 16 motorcycles, a tricycle, 19 mobile phones, and 80 improvised explosive device detonators during the offensive. The FDS and the VDP were patrolling the villages of Dinkiena and Montionkui on Jan. 1 when they spotted the terrorists.

Local sources told HumAngle that the terrorists forced out of their positions have now taken refuge in the Bouemahou forests.

“On Thursday, January 2, 2025, the terrorists discretely returned to Montionkuy to prepare an attack, and whilst returning to their base, fighters of the 18th BIR unit laid ambush and opened fire killing 29 of them,” a senior military officer told HumAngle. The officer begged not to be identified by name because he was not allowed to speak to journalists.

The officer noted that the armed forces and VDP adopted the slogan “Zero terrorists in the bushes of Solenzo”, reaffirming their determination to eradicate terrorists in the zone.

Burkina Faso's elite military forces, in collaboration with the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, executed a successful operation named "Operation Zero Terrorists" on January 1, targeting terrorist enclaves in the Solenzo area.

They killed 29 terrorists in Montionkui village and seized numerous items, including 16 motorcycles, a tricycle, 19 mobile phones, and 80 improvised explosive device detonators.

The operation was a response to terrorists who had been previously forced out and sought refuge in nearby forests.

On January 2, 2025, the forces successfully ambushed the terrorists as they attempted to return to Montionkuy, reinforcing the armed forces' determination to eliminate terrorist threats in the region while adopting the slogan “Zero terrorists in the bushes of Solenzo.”
