3R Rebels Kill 2 Persons, Seize 2 Motorbikes In Abba, Central African Republic
The rebels were said to have come from Bangareme, where there were recent clashes between the 3R rebels and FACA.
Rebels of the Return, Reclamation and Rehabilitation (3R) movement on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 killed two civilians during an incursion into the village of Naziboro situated in the sub-prefecture of Abba in the northwest of the Central African Republic.
The 3R rebels who are members of the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC) also wounded two other civilians in the attack and eventually seized 25 motorbikes belonging to miners in the zone.
According to eyewitnesses, all the victims were attacked in front of their houses. Three of the victims were attacked in Naziboro while one, a businessman, was attacked in the village of Zotoua in the sub prefecture of Bouar.
All the four victims were systematically tortured resulting in the death of two while the other two are still receiving treatment in the hospital in Abba.
The rebels were said to have come from Bangareme, where there were recent clashes between the 3R rebels and soldiers of the Central African Republic national army popularly known asĀ FACA supported by Russian mercenaries.
After killing two of their victims and seriously wounding two others, the rebels left the locality for Randji.Ā
Sources said on their way to Randji, the rebels crossed paths with Nana Alain, a candidate in the Dec. 27, 2020 legislative elections in the Abba constituency and extorted 150,000 FCFA (about 300 US dollars) from him after seizing his motorbike.
They also seized 25 motorbikes belonging to some persons working in local mining sites and extorted various sums of money from them.
āMovement in Baboua, Abba, and the Dongbaike highway without being harassed by armed groups has become a rare exploit,ā Nana Alain told HumAngle Tuesday evening.
