Accountability Journalism in Northeast Nigeria: Call for CSO/CBO Partners

HumAngle hereby invites civil society and community-based organisations operating in northeastern Nigeria to collaborate with our newsroom on investigative reports focusing on accountability and transparency in the BAY states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe.

We are interested in partnerships that revolve around such issues as governance, bribery and corruption, abandoned projects, wasteful spending of public resources, mismanagement of humanitarian assistance, diversion of aid, and sexual violence — especially in ways that connect directly or indirectly to the ongoing insurgency.

We will match journalist(s) with you to bring the report to life and your organisation will be duly acknowledged during publication. HumAngle will also happily cover and amplify your activities in separate stories.

What we are looking for:

  • Collaborative investigations: Joint efforts to uncover the truth and hold those in power accountable and can drive positive change.
  • Local Insights: Contributions that provide a deep understanding of the local context and issues.
  • Human Stories: Narratives that amplify the voices and experiences of affected communities.

Deadline: Rolling. (We will close the window for applications on September 30, 2024, or once we receive enough quality proposals.)

Submission guidelines:

Send an email to kunle.adebajo@humanglemedia.com and hauwa.shaffii@humanglemedia.com with the following information.

  • A brief proposal (300-500 words) outlining your investigative idea and how your organisation can contribute.
  • Your organisation’s name, contact details, and any relevant previous work.

We believe that by working together, we can produce powerful stories that promote transparency and accountability, ultimately benefiting the communities we serve. We look forward to your proposals and the opportunity to collaborate.

You can direct questions to the aforementioned email addresses.
