‘You Are Too Poor:’ Terror Leader Tells Abducted Firewood Hawkers, Frees Them

The terror gang leader was furious at his accomplices for bringing ‘poor people with no economic value’ to their enclave.

Seven firewood hawkers abducted on Sunday, Aug. 8, by terrorists in a forest known as Dajin-Yamma,  about a kilometre and a half away from Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria, have regained their freedom.

HumAngle was informed that a leader of the terror gang that abducted the seven men released them unconditionally late hours of Monday, Aug. 9.

Hamza Kowagga Bakuwa, one of the seven abducted persons said they were taken to the terror gang’s den where they were tied to trees hoping that their relatives would be contacted to pay ransom.

“After we were tightened up and lodged under separate trees at the terrorists den, the following day (Monday) their ‘Oga’ came to visit us also to mark the starting point for our ransom negotiation with our relatives,” Bakuwa narrated.

“On his arrival in his long overall black shirt, wearing jackboot shoes with a mask enclosing his entire face, holding a gun; he asked us ‘where were you abducted from?’”

“One of us answered in fear, that we were caught from our farms, while others were picking dried firewoods among.” According to him, the terror leader was furious that his ‘boys’ had abducted persons with no commercial value.

“…this Oga of the terrorist group furiously looked at his boys and shouted at them and said ‘why did you kidnap these most poor people who have nothing to offer to us’?” He warned them vehemently before our eyes,” he told HumAngle.

“In the end, the terrorists’ Second-in-Command ordered for our unconditional release, and that we be directed to follow the right routes to be able to get out of their domain safely,” said Sani Dan-Aku, another abducted person.

Abduction on Sunday afternoon

The seven abducted persons, taken away in the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 8 at about 3:15 pm were firewood hawkers who went to the forest to cut wood for sale.

A local source told HumAngle that the terrorists might be those operating in Dajin Yamma and Fagi forests under the leadership of one Kachalla, who is currently being held by security operatives.

Kachalla is a leader of one of the leading notorious terrorist groups residing at Kuyanbana forest located in Dansadau District, in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

HumAngle understands that the forest is one of the largest in the  state that also links to Birnin Gwari thick forest in Kaduna State.
