Special Podcast Episode: One year of The Girls Left Behind

In this podcast, we explore what life has been like so far for some of the #BirninYauriGirls featured in our documentary last year, revisiting their journey and the long struggle to bring them home.

In 2021, the Birnin Yauri abduction happened. After a mass release of some of the abductees, many people said all 89 of them had been released. But 11 families knew this was not true.

One year ago today, with support from the International Women’s Media Foundation, we premiered the documentary on the #BirninYauriGirls, to document the lives of the 11 girls and their families on what it took to have them back years after their abduction.
