Russian Mercenaries Kill 2 Central African Republic Soldiers
Two soldiers of the Central African Republic were killed and six others injured when Russian mercenaries of the Wagner security group opened fire at them thinking they were rebels.
Russian mercenaries of the Wagner security group fighting alongside Central African Republic national army popularly (FACA), are reported to have accidentally killed two FACA soldiers on Sunday, March 28.
According to local sources, the incident took place in Bamingui-Bangoran on the Ndele highway as the Russian mercenaries were returning from Mbres on board six vehicles.
“As the Russian mercenaries were travelling to Bamingui after leaving Mbres on Sunday, March 28, afternoon, they came face-to-face with FACA soldiers who had set up a roadblock in Bamingui on the Ndele highway,” a local source informed HumAngle.
“Thinking the roadblock had been set up by CPC fighters, the Russian mercenaries opened fire on the FACA position, killing two and wounded six others before heading in the direction of Abakava airport,” the source added.
The Russian mercenaries of Wagner had on Saturday, March 27, chased away rebels of the CPC from Mbres, before quitting the town 24 hours later for the district of Bamingui.
Several business proprietors have since reported that the Russian mercenaries looted their shops as they passed through Bamingui streets heading to the Abakava airport.
